  What was your first car?

  mine was an old fiat 127, i bought it 1983 and it was at least fifteen years old then!

  the seats were vinyl and there were no rear seatbelts so i could send my girlfriend and her sister flying with each bend in the road!

  it wouldn't go above 55mph and was rattling like rollercoaster when it finally got there.. the rear window fell out and it finally croaked in puff of blue/black smoke.

  My first car was a Ford Capri - 1.3L no less!!!!

  It had flared wheel arches, Wolfrace alloy wheels, orange furry dash etc - you can tell I was living in Essex then! (Still am but my taste in cars has grown considerably).

  Other cars I have had include: Peugeot 205, Ford Granada estate, Peugeot 405, Volvo 460gle, Ford Mondeo, Volkswagen Passat, Alfa Romeo 156, BMW 3 series, and now an Alfa Romeo 159. All the cars from the Peugoet 405 onwards were brand new.

  would someone seriously consider arranging for an apostafest up in scotland next year?

  i know i'm asking this early but i feel it would be good to put the feelers out now.. obviously, it would have to be a location easy to get to - so that means stornoway is out!

  We should be able to make it - in fact we would love to and we will do all we can to make sure we are there.

  Edinburgh sounds great - been to Glasgow, the shopping was fantastic, second only in the UK to London, but the rest - oh dear.

  I got a call from an elder, he wants to come visit tomorrow.........

  so what to do?????.

  he was a family friend for years.....i saw him in the supermarket a few months back and he stopped and chatted to me for a while.....he rang me today to see if he can call in the morning for a cuppa......he says he isnt coming to preach...... he is one of those likeable people..........but has had a heart attack shortly after i saw him in the supermarket......he says he is okay now.. so i cant really see the point...........he is older; in his 70's.......and i think whatever we talk about i dont want to be responsible for putting his health at risk by opposing his beliefs.. am i missing an opportunity or should i leave well alone?.

  I've forgotten his name but it is really ironic that my wifes ex husband drove up to Leicester to use the 'brother' in his divorce dealings!

  How FAST can you type?

  take the test and see .

  i remember in high school, i was able to type at 40 words per minute after counting my errors, and they way they counted it, if i remember well, was your total words minus the errors you made to give an approximate speed.. here is the test.

  it's only a fun quiz so don't be mad if i type faster than you .

  Not bad for a 46 year old BLOKE!

  Mind you, I couldn't work out how to cut copy and paste my result (doesn't seem to work on Thunderbird), so I might be lying!

  Didn't get baptised at Bowes Road - that pleasure of mine was at Twickenham back in the late seventies.

  Was always going to Bowes Road though as it was our circuit assembly venue for as long as I can remember.

  Once I was an 'attendant' at the very back door of the building - I was told that if anyone wanted to come in and use that door I was to ask for identification. Anyway some snobby woman (sorry, 'spiritual sister'), just came in the door and started walking up the stairs. I said excuse me sister but I've been told to ask for your id. She said 'I am the DO's wife and I don't need to show you any id'. With that she snootily carried on walking up the stairs. Christian love at work I thought to myself at the time.

  i received my copy of barbara andersons cd paedophilia in an american religion a month or two ago, and i have been reading through it since.. what follows, although i have called this a review, is in no sense a scholarly consideration of the legal merits of the cases described, a task for which i am wholly unqualified.

  these are, rather, my subjective reflections on the material presented, the impressions i gathered while reading the legal filings, my untrained, common-man appraisal of the cases laid out in those documents.

  ill also admit to being swayed by tone of voice adopted, and to using my own common-sense yardstick in determining the reasonableness of the statements made, the responses given and the arguments put forward.

  Thank you Duncan for your summary of the Watchtowers case.

  I realise that they have to defend themselves, but the way that they did it, i.e. by any legal trick available would, I think shock your average JW.

  Maybe something like this the rank and file may well read if it were in the mainstream papers, as they could not say it was apostate material and it may just open their eyes to how scheming the Society is.

  Btw, I haven't received my Babara Anderson CD yet, but thanks to you I might not need it!
